Fifty shades of green – an amazing trip to Ireland
In the first week of July, that is to say before the end of the school year, year seven students set off on a journey to the Emerald Isle. The fundamental aim was to enrich both their linguistic skills as students attended a language course at Bridge Mills Galway Language Centre and their cultural knowledge of the Irish and their country. After two interesting days in Dublin where we explored attractions like the Book of Kells, the Guinness Storehouse and a River Dance Performance, we crossed the whole island to meet our host families in Galway.
There students immersed completely into Irishness when we were guided by a Town Cryer through Galway City, when we visited Bunratty Castle or Connemara National Park and even attended an Irish dancing workshop. That way of spending the last week of the school year meant further motivation for the students to head successfully towards their final challenges in year eight, above all the theatre project, their CAE exam and, needless to say, their finals in English.
