…funny islanders, screams and stabbings – it`s time for theatre workshops in our English classrooms!

David Taylor, our “God of English Theatre” who is usually the creative mastermind and director of our theatre project in Year 8, offered five great workshops to our students in year 4 and year 6. Students rehearsed with him and acted out fantastic scenes in their classrooms, dressed in funny costumes.

The selection of plays was adapted to the needs and preferences of the age groups involved.

Accordingly, year 4 students dealt with “Uncle Bill`s Will” and year 6 students were faced with “Silly Shakespeare” – a slapstick version of Macbeth and A Midsummer Night`s Dream. David`s main aim was to motivate students to speak English and to use it creatively. What is more, the initiative gives our students the opportunity to explore issues like presentation skills and group responsibility in an enjoyable way.

In general, the workshops received enthusiastic feedback and fostered both team spirit and motivation for more drama activities with David!
