Disconnected
This year’s Vienna’s English Theatre’s touring production introduced us to Jason, Elsie and M.A.D., three teenagers, dealing with something we are all familiar with – some more than others of course –, that is, being disconnected from real life and connected, or shall we say addicted, to the virtual world of the internet.
Talking, chatting, interacting – all activities you need (a) partner(s) for, are easily done alone with one’s computer. However, what happens if you are actually disconnected, so no signal, no access, simply nothing? On 1st February our year 5 and year 6 students found out that when that happens you have to actually talk, chat and interact for real and as a reward you can discover true friendships. Dealing with so many thought-provoking issues, Disconnected could not have been more up-to-date and relevant for a young audience.
