Hallowe’en with Wendy the Witch
This year’s year 2 students spent the time before Hallowe’en (Pool sessions and normal periods), which is celebrated on Oct. 31st, looking at different aspects of the typical tradition. Hallowe’en is mainly celebrated in English speaking countries. It is the night before All Saints Day and is probably of Celtic origin.
Nowadays people celebrate it with activities such as trick-or-treating, attending costumeparties, carving jack-o'-lanterns, bonfires, apple bobbing, visiting haunted attractions, telling scary stories, and watching horror films. We tried some of them out and had great fun doing so. Of course, as we did all this during our English classes, we learnt specific vocabulary, wrote our own scary stories, and also looked at some cool grammar. Uahhh!
