A faint cold fear thrills through my veins......
In our pool session on December 9th, classes 6a and 6b dealt with spooky creatures, mysterious paintings and spine-chilling short stories to explore the world of horror and mystery.
The project was started in Vienna on December 3rd, 2009 when we took our students to the Leopoldmuseum, where they were faced with artistic representations of the uncanny. They had to weave eerie stories around selected paintings of the exhibition guided by a native speaker who informed and motivated them to establish a link between the visual arts and literature. In the following, we created a moodle-project for our students to deepen their knowledge and arouse further interest in Edgar Allan Poe's fictitious treatment of the uncanny. Furthermore they were encouraged to express their views on fear in general, horror films and scary stories. Let's hope that our students won't have frightening nightmares after this intense contact with the uncanny. :-)
