Are you a culture vulture?
In the course of three English lessons, students from class 7b indulged in productive activities centering upon various aspects of the performing arts. They received a variety of music impulses that should help them raise their interest and individual awareness of personal taste and attitude concerning musicals, the opera and, last but not least, the realm of cult movies. They were invited to listen to several representative samples from classical music such operas by Mozart, Offenbach, Bizet as well as famous songs from musicals like The Phantom of the Opera and The Rocky Horror Picture Show and following this input they had to discuss in groups, collect arguments and write creative texts, e.g. a "what's on" brochure of a musical. As for the issue of cult movies they came up with a list of criteria for cult movies. In the end, their creative output confirmed that the consume of high culture can never become an outdated or boring activity in the leisure time of a young adult. Hence students are looking forward to a trip to Vienna to enjoy a real show - the musical Rebecca at Raimundtheater.
