Human rights
On April 5th, 2006 classes 6a and 6b dealt with crucial aspects related to human rights. Apart from finding out about the central, basic question of what human rights are, students familiarized themselves with the work of Amnesty International and other NGOs.
Furthermore, they were confronted with various impulses and tasks on the issue of torture, including Stanley Milgram's experiment on what makes a torturer as well as Sting's famous song – "They dance alone" which he wrote for Amnesty International's Conspiracy Of Hope Tour. Finally, they learnt about how torture was used in Pinochet's totalitarian regime, in Chile, in the well-known play Death and the Maiden by Ariel Dorfman. The medium used to present this topic to our students was the learning platform Moodle, which was methodologically integrated in an open learning session.
