The Climate Fresk
“We don’t have much time, but by understanding the challenge we can take action.”
This is the vision which the NGO The Climate Fresk is based on. Its purpose is to create awareness about climate issues so that the necessary changes to preserve life on our planet can be triggered.
On Wednesday, 26th February 2025, our 8a students actively took part in an engaging and varied workshop on this urgent issue. English and sustainability trainer Mag.a Sandra Zwirchmayr represented the organisation together with the class’s English teacher Mag.a Karin Long as Climate Fresk facilitators and led the adolescents through the activities. They encouraged our young participants to find the connections between the various aspects of climate change.
By putting the different pieces together, the students showed a high deal of interest and understanding and engaged in lively discussions about the environment and our future. Also, in the second half of the workshop, the youngsters could show their creative sides by drawing pictures and finding titles for their climate fresks. Finally, they expressed their emotions and discussed various steps that everybody can easily take to tackle climate change.
Founded in December 2018 by French activist Cédric Ringenbach, the community’s ambition is to create a network of people that is growing exponentially. Thus, climate education can be passed on in order to reach a social tipping point that will guide us to a sustainable world. With 2,000,000 participants and more than 90,000 volunteers in 167 countries and 45 languages, The Climate Fresk has grown into an internationally recognised organisation showing us that a brighter future is still possible – if we act fast.
