Speedy Snacks: Spooktacular Halloween Cooking Challenge
Just before the autumn break, the Year 6 English WPG group got together for a spooky cooking session that got us in the Halloween spirit! We planned a three-course Halloween menu together, with each group creating a fun and spooky dish to share.
The first course were creepy drinks - in bluish and reddish colours - with floating eyeballs (don't worry, they were not actual eyeballs!). For the main course, we prepared some spooky pizzas, and for dessert we had a selection of colourful Halloween cookies in unique designs.
So far, so good. However, an unforeseeable event (not of our own making) almost spoilt our plans. To cut a long story short, we ended up starting later than planned and having less time than we'd originally allowed. Regardless, we made the best of the situation and worked together quickly and efficiently to get as much done as possible.
Thanks to great teamwork, we still managed to get the spooky drinks and pizzas done, and saved the Halloween cookies for the next day. Although we didn't get to relax at the table much or clean up together afterwards (at this point, many thanks to those few students who took pity on their teacher and helped tidy up), the Halloween cooking session was still a success and got us all in the festive spirit.
Next time we hope to have a bit more time to enjoy the spooky snacks, the Halloween atmosphere and each other's company.
