Newspaper-Project
Dealing with authentic material in the classroom
Class 8b started their final year with a project on the latest news. The students could choose from numerous articles on a broad range of topics published over the last four months. After preparing the articles individually, the students met in groups and were assigned different tasks which finally led to lively discussions on issues like the corona crisis, current political affairs, censorship of the media, poverty, migration, environmental problems and further global challenges.
Thus, the students did not only manage to effectively reactivate their spoken English, but also experienced that they could successfully deal with authentic – real world – English. It was finally decided to do this engaging and motivating project again in one of the pool-sessions to come.
